On 7th December 2022, the University of Trento approved its Open Science Policy. This policy is the result of a collaborative effort by a dedicated group of scholars and it builds upon the principles that guided the drafting of the 2014 Policy on Open Access to Scientific Literature, later revised and expanded in 2020 under the same name.
The Open Science Policy defines key stakeholders involved in its implementation, establishes general guiding principles, clarifies recurring terms, and sets strategic directions for Open Science initiatives. It identifies three main thematic areas of focus:
• Publications by university affiliates;
• Publishing House of the University;
• Research data and results.
The policy designates the Open Science Committee as the official body responsible for the execution and oversight of its actions, while working groups serve as the operational arm supporting the Committee. The specific goals, strategies, and implementation tools for each thematic area are detailed in regulations and guidelines tailored to these three key domains.
