IRIS Guidelines

In order to make it easier, the Open Science Commission promotes the dissemination of IRIS Guidelines, an instruction paper that sets out the main functions and purposes of the institutional archive IRIS (Institutional Research Information System) to the authors belonging to UniTrento.
The guidelines do not contain technical intervention instructions (in this case refer to, please, the existing Manuals / Vademecum / Training pills, etc.), but rather a “motivational” framework that attempts to raise awareness of any IRIS use. Therefore, the guidelines aim at introducing the institutional archive to newcoming academic staff members - to historical staff members too - and at clarifying easily but exhaustively a single document, the institutional role that UniTrento has entrusted to be archived, both for evaluation purposes and for supporting open science. Hopefully, the guidelines will lead afferent authors to learn and make better use of IRIS, moving effortlessly a support in-between the various resources.

IRIS is the only one entry point for strategic information on all internal/external research processes.

  • Ministerial Evaluation: IRIS provides bibliographic data to the ministerial database, enabling the evaluation processes to take place.
  • Open Access Dissemination: IRIS allows open access dissemination of UniTrento scientific research results outputs; OpenAIRE portal included to do so too.
  • Research Monitoring: IRIS makes it possible to produce useful reports to be delivered to internal bodies of uniTrento academic structures for monitoring productivity as well as for supporting evaluation purposes.
  • Legal Deposit of Doctoral Theses: IRIS promotes junior researchers outputs dissemination through the archiving of doctoral theses, also enabling their automatic compulsory deposit in the National Central Libraries in Rome and Florence.
  • UniTrento Scientific Production valorisation: In definitive status IRIS content appears displayed on UniTrento Digital portal.
